Pink Cafe Movienight: Rocky Horror Picture Show

Every third Friday of the month SHOUT organizes a pink café in theater De Wilde Wereld. This time it’s a pink movie night. We will be showing the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a parody of the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s to early 1960s.

This queer cult film is an adaptation of the 1975 musical of the same name. The story is about a newly engaged couple who suffer a breakdown in a remote area and must seek shelter in the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank n Furter.

This queer cult film is a pathway for queer youth to multi-generational self-discovery. Themes such as androgyny, gender bending, bisexuality and sexual liberation attracted many people. The film still has a cult following and an important role in this cult phenomenon is played by the audience, who react to events in the film with shouts and objects. “Let’s do the time-warp again” this Friday at SHOUT.
